Maybelline New York Lip Gradation Pink 2 Review

Hello all,
Today I am going to review Maybelline New York Lip Gradation Shade Pink 2. These Maybelline Lippies are a huge hit internationally and I wanted to try them for so long as i love using lip crayons. Finally Maybelline launched them in India in 8 shades. So, Let’s start the review:

Rs 500/- for 1.5 gms

Product Claim:
Go Bold Or Graded And Sexy On Your Lips With The New Color Sensational Lip Gradation
It's time to experiment with your lip makeup. For the sexy, bold and adventurous woman, Maybelline New York brings international trends with the newest Lip Gradation. Available in 8 bright, matte shades, this double-sided lip product will inspire you to experiment with your looks and bring out your unique style and personality. The color stick at one end will give a gorgeous pop of color while the cushion blender tool at the other end will give a sexy, graded look. For a complete trend-on look, apply color on the centre of your upper lip and use the sponge smudger to extend the color to the outer edges till the contours of your lips or use it as a matte lip color or a lip liner.

My review: Pink 2
I bought these lipsticks from the Maybelline counter in Shoppers Stop. The counter had all the 8 shades available. When I swatched all the shades on my hand I found that lot of shades are similar to each other for ex. Pink1 and Pink 2 are quite similar even Pink 2 and fuchsia 1 are also quite similar shades. When a company is launching any new range with limited shades, I think they should opt for many different types of shades, rather than playing only with pinks and reds. Anyways, I wanted to try them, hence I bought Pink 2.
I really liked the packaging of the lipstick. It is a long and sleek packaged lipstick with a twister in the end and a smudger. The Shade number is mentioned at the bottom of the lipstick. The body color of the lipstick is co-ordinated with the shade of the lipstick. There is also a smudger at the end of the lipstick which can be used for smudging the lipstick for an ombre and subtle look. On the top it has cap which fits in tightly. Overall the packaging is very cool and ideal for carrying it in bag.
The sumdger however doesn’t works for me. The sumdger is very soft and smooth, but it does not smudge the lipstick smoothly. Also there is no way of cleaning the smudger, hence I have hygiene issues with the smudger.

The texture of the lipstick is velvety smooth, creamy and matte. In spite of being creamy, the lipstick is not very heavy on lips. The colour payoff of the lipstick is very nice and will work for pigmented lips.

The shade is highly pigmented. The single swipe of the shade covers the pigmented lips efficiently.

The shade Pink 2 is a bright bubblegum pink color. The shade is very vibrant but will suit all the skin tones. This is shade is very wearable in college and summer outings. In the office it can be worn with toned down color with the help of smudger/tissues.

Staying Power:
The lipstick stays for good 4-3 hours with eating and drinking. Although it transfers, it leaves stain on the lips which looks pretty good.
