AVON Eyeshadow Palette: Emerald Cut Review

I actually absolutely love shopping for cosmetics online especially from as I found there website to be user friendly and with loads of product from good brands. Recently they added AVON products with an offer of getting eyeshadow quad free on purchase of Rs 799. Hence I bought two lipsticks which I have reviewed already. Here are the links:

Today I will be reviewing the eyeshadow quad which i got fro freeeeee.........:-)

Could not see the price on the package. On AVON website it is for $8.
Weight: 5 g

My review: Emerald Cut

Firstly and sadly the name of the eyeshadow quad is not available on the package. I searched the name on the AVON website and the name is Emerald Cut.  The outer packaging of this quad is a black colored opaque square box. On the back of cover there are instructions for application of eyeshadow quad and some manufacturing information. Once you open the package, there is the Eyeshadow quad with black outer cover. Even on the eyeshadow quad one can see “To Use” instructions. Once you open the quad there are 4 shades are placed in 3 rows with 3rd row consisting of two colors and a small applicator. The eyeshadow has mirror with it for application. Overall the packing is nice, sturdy and travel friendly.

Texture and Pigmentation

The texture of the shades in eyeshadow is powdery with fallouts. The eyeshadows are rally soft in application but are powdery, hence fall a lot. The pigmentation of the colors is not very good, as you to pack a huge amount of color to even have a hint of color on lids. The shade 1 and 2 has less pigmentation as compared to shade 3 and 4.

At first look I love the shades combinations in the quad. There are total four shades in the eyeshadow palette:
·         Shade 1: This is the highlighter shade of the palette.
·         Shade 2: This is a light pink shade with shimmer particles.
·         Shade 3: This is a Olive green color with shimmer.
·         Shade 4: This is a dark green color with slight grey.

All the shades of a do not have a great payoff i.e. one has to swipe a loads to color on eye to get eyeshadow color visible on eye lids and on pigmented eye lids like mine you will have to put some extra efforts. Even after applying the shades over eye primer, the shades just refuse to show up.

·         The shade 1 is not pigmented enough to highlight any area. Hence it needs to be packed in good amount for highlighting.
·         The shade 2 is subtle pink and has least pigmentation in the quad. In the first swipe it looks exactly like the highlighter shade on eyes. This colors shows slightly after 3 rd application of shade on lids.
·         Shade 3 is the best shade of the quad as it has decent pigmentation and shows well on eyes with single swipe.
·          Shade 4 is dark green colour on the quad but once applied on lids it is no different than the shade 3. The two shades look absolutely similar on eye lids.

Staying Power:

The shades 1 and 2 do not have a great staying power but shade 3 and 4 stay on lids have good staying power. But overall I think all the shades have good staying power of 7-8 hours with little fading.  But with shades pigmentation, I think this quad will suit more fair skinned ladies than medium to dark skin.

Pros and Cons of the Emerald Cut

1.    Decent  staying power
2.    Many shades available
1.    Availability
2.    No ingredients list
3.    Powdery and chalky
4.    Less Pigmented
5.    Costly for the quality

Packaging: 4/5
Texture: 3/5
Shade: 3/5
Staying Power: 3/5

Overall Rating: 3/5

Final Verdict:
Actually I liked the color combination of the quad, but the pigmentation is major issue and this cannot be ignored. This is good palette for new makeup lovers as it will help them in practicing new looks, but then again one can find good eyeshadows for the same price. Hence a Big No for this range, but would love to try other quads from AVON in different range.

Have a great day, Bye J
