Lakme Absolute Sculpt Matte Lipstick : Peach Pout Review

Hello all,

Lakme Absolute Sculpt Matte Lipstick range is something which I always wanted to try, but was not buying them for their price i.e. Rs 700. Actually I personally feel that spending anything more than Rs 500 on lipstick is dearer. I am an avid lipstick lover but I still think lipstick or any lip product more than Rs 500-600 is not worth it. While going through sale on I saw Lakme products on sale and I bought the lipstick peach pout from this range.

Rs 563/- for 3.7 gms

My review: Peach Pout

Peach is the color of summer and as we are in peak of summer, I thought of buying the shade peach pout from the Lakme Absolute Sculpt Matte Lipstick range. Generally peaches  and orange shades does not suit me well, but still I keep trying peaches and orange shades in different brands and ranges as I am still looking for the perfect shade which will suit me.

The packaging of this lipstick is really classy. The outer packaging consists of grey cardboard cover with the name of shade and price mentioned on it. Once you open the outer cover, the lipstick is covered in plastic sheet package. The lipstick has shiny grey body covered with transparent separates.  The shade color can be seen from the transparent cap. The name of the shade is also mentioned on the bottom of the lipstick. The cap fits in tightly which makes the lipstick travel friendly. Overall the packaging is really very nice and looks amazing.

The texture of the lipstick is smooth and creamy with no shimmer to it. Initially when you apply it is a bit glossy but then it turns into matte after 4-5 minutes. One great thing about this lipstick is that it does not transfer much once it is completely matte. One can further matte the lipstick by chapping lips on a tissue paper, and after this the lipstick will not transfer at all. This lipstick has tendency to settle in fine lines.

Shade and Pigmentation:
The shade Peach pout is peach shade with slight orange coral tones. The shade is very vibrant and bright initially but when it turns matte it is a subtle color. This shade is very wearable in college and summer outings. Once I applied it on my pigmented lips, it made me look very washed out, but when it turned into matte, the shade was looking good on me. This shade will not look nice on dusky and medium skin and suit very well on fair skin.

This shade peach pout is not very pigmented. It took 3-4 swipes of the lipstick to entirely cover my lips as my lips are highly pigmented.

Staying Power:

The lipstick stays for good 3-4 hours without eating and drinking, but the lip color will not survive a meal. Although it does not transfers much, but after meal and drinks it just vanishes from the lips. So if one is wearing this lipstick to a lunch or dinner party, there will be no lipstick whatsoever left on your lips, not even a stain after your meal.

Pros and Cons of the Lipstick Peach Pout:
1.    Great  Matte finish
2.    Nice shades in the range
3.    Easy to apply.
4.    Travel friendly.
5.    Less Transferable
6.    Feels light on lips
1.    Expensive for performance
2.    Poor Staying power for the price.
3.    Settles in fine line
4.    No ingredients list.

Packaging: 5/5
Texture: 4/5
Shade and Pigmentation: 3.5/5
Staying Power: 3/5

Overall Rating: 3.5/5

Final Verdict:
I really like the formula of the lipstick, but this shade did not suit me well. Also the staying power of the lipstick is really bad. I may try some other shade from the range to be more conclusive about the staying power.
