Blue Heaven Xpression Lipstick : Shade M020 -Mocha Magic Review

Hello all,

While browsing through internet I came across the brand named Blue Heaven. The brand have are very low priced but a huge range of cosmetic products. I thought the products of this brand would not be good as they are very low in pricing, but then thought of giving it a try and find out how the products fare on me. As I am big lipstick lover, I thought it would be better to try a lipstick from the brand. As the lipstick from Blue Heaven Xpression Lipstick range was priced at only Rs 125, I bought the shade No M 020 Mocha Magic.

Price:

Rs 125/- for 4 gms

My review: Mocha Magic

I choose this shade as it appeared dark maroon shade on the website and hence I thought this will be safe bet as maroon shades suit the best on Indian Skin tones.

Packaging:

The packaging of this lipstick is very ordinary. The outer packaging consists of black cardboard cover with the some design. At one end of the cover there is hole through which the name and number of the shade can be read.  The outer cover is very informative as it contains a lot of details like manufacturing address, customer care number and email, price, date of manufacture and little bit about the product qualities.

The packaging of the actual lipstick I found a bit tacky. The outer cover of lipstick is golden in color which I didn’t like personally. The shape of the lipstick is hexagonally cylindrical and the outer cover is completely opaque. The name of the shade is mentioned on the bottom of the lipstick. The cap does not fit in very tightly but it doesn’t opens in the bag on its own. Overall I am not very impressed with the packaging.

Texture:

The texture of the lipstick is smooth and hence glides on very nicely on the lips. The lipstick is bit drying on lips hence one will have to use lip balm beneath the lipstick. The Lipstick is slightly sticky, but the stickiness is not much to be bothered. I think the texture of the lipstick semi matte and is really good considering the price.

Shade:

The shade is a vampy dark berry maroon shade with very less shimmers which is a perfect winter/ fall shade. The shade will look good on all skin tones, but the shade will look more Gothic on darker skin tones. The shade is an ideal night shade and for the day time I had to tone the shade a bit down by chapping the lips on tissue paper. I think this shade is a good dupe of L’Oreal Paris Arabian Nights Moist Matte Lipstick at less than half price. I absolutely loved the shade.

Pigmentation:

The pigmentation of this shade is amazing. The lipstick gives full coverage on the lips in single swipe and stays on the lips for a really long time. I am thoroughly impressed with the color pay off of the shade as it will cover highly pigmented lips in single swipe.

Staying Power:

The lipstick stays for good 3-4 hours with light eating and drinking and also the lip color will survive a meal. Although after the meal lipstick fades, but still leaves a tint of color on the lips.  Initially when applied on lips the lipstick tends to transfer a lot, but once it is set on the lips like after 5-10 minutes, the lipstick does not transfers much. I think the staying power of the lipstick is commendable.

Pros and Cons of the Mocha Magic:

Pros:
1.    Semi Matte finish
2.    Affordable
3.    Easy to apply.
4.    Less Transferable
5.    Great Pigmentation
6.    Good Staying power
7.    Shade will suit Indian Skin tone
8.    Huge shades in the range
Cons:
1.    Availability, I think available only online
2.    Drying and sticky on lips
3.    No ingredients list.
4.    Tacky packaging.

Ratings:

Packaging: 2/5
Texture: 4/5
Shade: 5/5
Pigmentation: 5/5
Staying Power: 4/5

Overall Rating: 4/5

Final Verdict:
I really loved the lipstick shade and the pigmentation of the lipstick. The only drawback is that the packaging is not so cool but this can be ignored as the lipstick is great. I am definitely going to try other shades from the range.
