NYX Intense Butter Gloss: SPICE CAKE Review

Hello Everyone,
So finally NYX is in India on and hence I had to buy NYX products. I always wanted to try their lip creams as have heard great reviews about them. Miss Claire soft matte lip creams are said to be the dupes of NYX soft matte lip cream, hence I thought let’s not buy soft matte lip cream and buy some different product from NYX. I saw NYX butter gloss on website and thought of giving them a try. So let us see the review:

Rs 575/- for 8 ml.

Product Claim:

Smother your lips with a silky gloss bursting with color! Our Intense Butter Gloss has the same mouth-watering texture and scent of the original formula with even more color payoff in 12 new delectable shades.

My review: Spice Cake

The packaging of the lip gloss is similar to NYX soft matte lip cream and also Miss Claire soft matte lip cream. The gloss comes in sleek bottle and a doe foot applicator. The top part of lip gloss is black and the bottom part is color co-ordinated with the shade of the lip cream. I like doe foot applicator as they help in controlling the amount of product to be applied and also work really well on the inner corner of lips. I think NYX should have been innovative with the packaging of gloss, as one might get confused as the packaging is identical with soft matte lip creams.

The texture of the lip gloss is in between lip cream and lip gloss. The application of the gloss is very smooth and not at all patchy, but it is sticky on the lips. At first when applied the gloss is very shiny and sticky, and then it losses it shine while the day goes on.

The shade Spice cake is deep purple shade with mauve undertones. This shade is a very bright shade and hence will be liked by only dark color lovers. The beauty of the shade is that it is a well balanced mix of purple and mauve color, which makes it wearable for dark skin beauties also. Fair to medium skin beauties will rock this shade. This is quite a bold shade for daily use, but of one tones down the shade with tissue paper then I think it can be everyday use shade.

The pigmentation of this shade par excellence i.e. You don’t even have to swipe the applicator on both the lips. I just applied the shade on my lower lips and then I pressed the upper lip and lower lip and the color had completely covered my lips.

Staying Power:

The staying power of the lip gloss is upto 3-4 hours. Actually, the shine in the shade lasts only for half an hour but the color stays on for 3-4 hours. But if you are eating in between or even drinking water/tea/coffee, the intensity of the color goes away and what is left on the lips is just stain. Within half an hour of application the gloss is very transferable, but once set it not very transferable.
