NYX Butter Gloss: RED VELVET Review

Hello Everyone,

As NYX launched in India I bought a three products from the brand from I have already reviewed two out of the three items, and today i will be reviewing the NYX butter gloss in shade red velvet. I have linked the other two NYX products which I have reviewed. So let us see the review of NYX Butter gloss:

Rs 550/- for 8 ml.

Product Claim:

Buttery soft and silky smooth, the NYX scrumptious new Butter Gloss tastes as sweet as a sugar cookie – and makes your lips look downright luscious. Swipe it on alone or over your favourite NYX lipstick for creamy sheer to medium coverage that melts onto your lips.
  • Soft and Silky Smooth Butter Lip Gloss.
  • Luxurious satin finish.
  • Lightweight formula, non-sticky, leaving your lips soft and supple.
  • Every glossy colour delivers sheer to medium coverage.

My review: Red Velvet

The packaging of the lip gloss is similar to NYX Intense Butter gloss i.e. it comes in sleek bottle and a doe foot applicator. The only difference is the whole body of the lip gloss is color co-ordinated with the shade of the lip cream. I like doe foot applicator as they help in controlling the amount of product to be applied and also work really well on the inner corner of lips. The packaging is quite sturdy and travel friendly.

The texture of the lip gloss is similar to NYX intense butter gloss i.e. in between lip cream and lip gloss. The application of the gloss is very smooth and not at all patchy, but it is sticky on the lips. At first when applied the gloss is very shiny and sticky, and then it losses it shine within 5 minutes of its application.

The shade Red Velvet is Red shade with maroon undertones. Actually once you apply it on lips, it is a bright red but once the gloss losses its glossiness the shade becomes maroon on lips. This shade will suit very well on skin tones. This shade is a very common red maroonish shade, which is nothing new.

The pigmentation of this shade is good i.e. it covers the lips in single swipe and gives opaque color on lips.

Staying Power:

The staying power of the lip gloss is upto 2-3 hours if one is not drinking or eating anything. Every time you eat or drink the shade transfers and the color intensity also goes away. Actually, the shade transfers a lot...when I say a lot, it means a lot. If you are eating in between or even drinking water/tea/coffee, the color goes away and nothing is left on the lips.

Pros and Cons of the Red Velvet

1.    Shiny and glossy.
2.    Easy to apply.
3.    Great Pigmentation.
4.    Travel friendly.
1.    Packaging similar to soft matte lip cream
2.    Sticky and heavy on lips
3.    Very transferable
4.    Available only online
5.    Very Less staying power
6.    Costly for performance
7.    Boring shade

Packaging: 3/5
Texture: 3/5
Shade: 2/5
Pigmentation: 4/5
Staying Power: 2/5

Overall Rating: 2/5

Final Verdict:
I just did not like the gloss. It is a very sticky formula and major drawback  is its staying power. I mean if I am paying 500 plus rupees on a reputed brand gloss and it is not lasting on me for 2 hours, then what is the use. This product is a Big NO from my side.

Have a great day, Bye
