Lakme Absolute Illuminating Foundation Review: Shade 04 Honey Beam

Hello Everybody,

Recently Lakme Fashion Week has wrapped up and Lakme has come up with new makeup range. This time Lakme has come up with Illuminating Range, which includes shimmery lipsticks and foundation. I purchased Lakme absolute Illuminating foundation recently and today I will review the product:

Rs 750/- for 15 gms,

Product Claim:

A liquid foundation specially created by the backstage experts at the Lakme Fashion Week to give you visibly brighter looking skin.
·         Visibly brighter looking skin
·         Silky dewy finish
·         Luminous skin with natural glow
·         Gives your skin an even coverage

My Review: Shade 04 Honey Beam

The packaging of the foundation is very simple and similar to Lakme Absolute foundation. Therefore, if you have both the foundation in your drawer, you are definitely going to get confused. The foundation has a pump dispenser, which is good and hygienic. The cap of the foundation is tight and fits in properly, which makes it travel friendly. Overall I liked the packaging, but Lakme could have been more innovative with the packaging.

The texture of the foundation is between liquid and cream. The foundation is easy to blend if blended immediately else it might be a bit difficult. The foundation has lot of shimmers, which spread on your face as you blend the foundation.

The foundation is drying on face that makes it look extremely powdery and dry, hence dry skin people should apply good moisturizer beneath the foundation. Overall, the texture is smooth but drying.

This shade Honey beam is the darkest shade available in this range. Actually, this range only has four shades and they are Ivory Glow, Natural Flare, Beige Shimmer and Honey Beam. The shade is very light for my skin tone, or I may say that it is my highlighter shade. I think to use this foundation I will have to mix it with dark concealer or contour.

I have seen this problem with Lakme that they do not cater to lot of Indian skin tones and hardly make range of shades, which covers the diverse skin colors we have in India. The foundation as is very light, which when applied completely brightens my skin. In addition to this, the foundation has shimmers, which turns my face into disco ball.

I think the shade will not suit many skin tones in India and such a huge quantity of shimmers in foundation is a major turn off.

The foundation has a very sheer coverage i.e. light to medium coverage. While using this foundation one will need good corrector of concealer for spot correction, as this foundation will not cover hyper-pigmentation or any scars.

Staying Power:

As far as staying power of the foundation is concerned, it stays on for good 5-6 hours. As this foundation has lot of shimmers, it is not advisable to wear it in daytime. I think the ideal time to wear this foundation is night time that to if there is festive occasion or marriage function. For other occasions like dinner or dates, this foundation will make you look over done.

Pros and Cons of the Honey Beam:
1.      Smooth finish.
2.    Blends easily.
3.    Ideal for Night Festive Occasion
1.    Less coverage
2.    Not suitable for dry skin
3.    Costly
4.    Less shades to suit Indian Skin tones
5.    Lot of Shimmers
6.    Not for Day time usage

Packaging: 3/5
Texture: 3/5
Shade: 1/5
Coverage: 2/5
Staying Power: 3/5

Overall Rating: 2.5/5

Final Verdict:

I think this foundation is ideal for ramp models only and not for common people as it has lot of shimmers which I did not like at all. I think this foundation should be given a miss, but if you are going to be a bride soon, this foundation can be used for bridal makeup.
